Professional Organizing Tips for your home or business
August 14, 2008
… for your business or home.

What is Clutter?
Clutter is often defined as a disorderly heap, assemblage or simply litter.
- Clutter eats equity
- Clutter is difficult to part with
- Clutter is truly our “stuff”…our knickknacks our magazines we will one day read.
Removing clutter enhances the value of your home and life at the same time…
Get through the dreaded de-clutter phase of staging with ease by following these tips;
Commit to the process
Admitting that you have clutter is the biggest step in tackling this entire process.
Understanding that you will need to emotional detach yourself from these items is the next. It is recommended that someone you trust work with you. Someone who does not hold the same sentimental attachment to your belongings but understands value and need.
Choose your strategy
There are many different approaches to removing clutter from your home (or business) and different techniques to do so.
Take some time to research de-cluttering methods and utilize the system that best works for you based on your timeframe and the people who “own” the clutter as well.
Examine your resources
Ensure that you have the appropriate supplies available to complete your de-cluttering tasks;
- storage containers
- packing materials
- cleaning supplies
- recycling and donation resources.
Set realistic goals and timelines
Be honest about how much time it will take you to accomplish your end results. Think about how much time it took you to create the clutter.
Review your daily schedule and incorporate a specific frame of time that you can set aside to de-clutter. Whether it is 15 minutes or 1 hour per day you will ultimately see immediate results.
Execute your method
Commit to a specific date and time…like an appointment you can’t miss and begin the process. Until you start, you will never you conquer your clutter.
Constantly remind yourself of the bigger picture and goal at hand.
Establish manageable systems
Put in place simple concepts that help you control and reduce future clutter. Designate specific areas for items that have previously resulted in clutter. Schedule a weekly time to de-clutter if you experience build up.
Everything has is place is a good rule to follow.
Celebrate your accomplishment
Reward yourself for clutter reduction. Whether it is one room or one drawer at a time you should be proud of what you have achieved.
