Listing / Home - For Sale photographs - shy subjects or bad photographs
August 27, 2007
When the goal is to take a photograph that will be used to market a property for sale, the resulting photographs should be meaningful and attract the attention of a potiential buyer. All too often, marketing photographs are quickly taken, and the resulting ’snap’ reflects the haste. Look at these photographs where the photographer lost sight of the subject, and simply ended up with ‘just another’ image that says nothing special about the property.
Home staging advice, combined with good photographs, not ’snaps’ are the core of a property marketing strategy.
In some cases we are left wondering, what was the point?
I know there is a house behind the landscaping, I wonder how large it is?
A picture of a white sofa, does it come with the house, or should we be looking at the tall staircase and hallway?
Ahhh.. Florida, stunning weather and pool home. Shame about the framing of this photograph. The bad landscaping is distracting.
Walk around the tree and take the photograph from the other side. Then we can see the hot tub, and the tree behind it.
Move to the left, and we can get a shot of the landscaping and the front door and walkway - so simple to do. Think about the buyer before you take a photograph. The photograph is all they may see when they search on the internet.
Sometimes, there is no option - you have to photograph what is there. A little landscaping may have may it a better photograph.
Sellers, take note - you have a part to play in the process, make the effort and prepare your home for sale.
